After watching *Gosford Park*, Mary wanted to see a movie with young Maggie Smith. What a treat this was!
It starts off pretty dang funny, but a bit education-movie-cliche (enlightened teacher vs stuffy administration). Then things start to get a bit more interesting, before taking an incredibly dramatic turn.
I appreciate any movie that can slowly reverse my opinions of characters throughout the story.
Maggie Smith was well-deserving of her Oscar, but it was young Pamela Franklin who really made this movie.
